How was the scoring in tennis invented?
Wikipedia says that is was developed in medieval France. Possibly using a clock. Players advanced the clock 15, 30, 45, 60. When deuce (sounds french) was incepted, they changed it to 15, 30, 40 – where the clock hand moved to 50 on the first deuce point and then 60 (game win) on the second. Makes sense.
