Sarah Applebaum's work is just bursting with color and cheer. I look at this and just want to scoop my daughter up and go visit this just to see the look on her face. It makes me think there's an idea out there for an education brand/children's clothing brand to own the idea of revolving installations that expose kids to art like this.
Inge Jacobsen stitches into the pages of fashion magazines to create "handmade works of art from mass produced items". I love the idea of something completely unique born out of something ubiquitous and taken for granted.
Sculptor Dalton Ghetti creates intricate, playful sculptures out of the graphite and wood of pencils. He's kind of a micro-sculptor. Using a razor blade, sewing needle, and sculpting knife he creates these miniature wonders. Ghetti, a carpenter by profession, is not formally trained as a sculptor and his 25 year portfolio of work came from making gifts for friends. Ghetti embraces the pain-staking meticulous process and views it as an escape from fast-paced society, offering an opportunity to appreciate ‘the beauty in small things’.
